July
4, 2003
BURNABY,
British Columbia (CP) --
The Ironmen Hockey Club has confirmed
that the team will play their 7th
season at Burnaby 8 Rinks in the CHL
Division. Canlan Ice Sports Burnaby
has received the required deposit
from the hockey club. The Ironmen
Hockey Club is now registered for
the 2003-2004 hockey season.
The
Ironmen Hockey Club will have ten
skaters and one goaltender that will
be returning from the 2002-2003 squad.
The
Ironmen are seeking four full-time
players for the 2003-2004 season.
If you know of any players that are
interested in joining the hockey club
or that could help improve the club.
Please contact team management or
complete the form in the scouting
section of the team website.
The
hockey club is still very interested
in any suggestions regarding fundraising
and sponsorship opportunities. Canlan
Ice Sports Burnaby has increased league
fees for the 2003-2004 season by $450.00
per team. If the hockey club is unable
secure sponsorship or have a fundraising
plan in place by November 2003, increasing
individual players fees may be the
only alternative. The Ironmen Hockey
Club has no plans at increasing individual
players fees at this time.
The
hockey club has scheduled an ice time
for Monday, August 25th at 8:00pm
at Burnaby 8 Rinks on the Gold B Rink.
Cost for rostered members of the hockey
club will be $10.00 each. The cost
for all other players will be $15.00.
The
next scheduled fees payment of $200.00
is due on Friday, September 5, 2003.
This payment must be made in full
and on time. Team members that wish
to pay their fees in advance of scheduled
payment dates may do so. Please contact
the team
manager for payment instructions
and information.

Ironmen
Invade Whistler
June
8, 2003
WHISTLER, British
Columbia (CP) -- The Ironmen Hockey
Club participated in their second straight Whistler
Summit Series Hockey Tournament during the first
weekend of June 2003. Although the team did
not qualify for the medal round many positives
can be taken away from this year's tournament.
The Ironmen got their first tournament victory
with a 4-2 win over Tiki Bob's Bombers on Saturday,
June 7th. Jason Radford and Rob Nikkel both
had strong tournaments with honorable mention
going to Edward Kouwenhoven, Shane Jack and
Mark Steele. The Ironmen finished the tournament
with one win and two losses.
Off
the ice the members of the team spent more
time together as a group than one year ago.
Whether it was enjoying some beverages in
a teammates room, eating meals together, lounging
by the pool and hot tub or taking in the Whistler
nightlife. The time the players spent together
away from the rink can only be a positive
in terms of developing an even stronger team
bond.
